What the process looks like

01

How Sessions Work

Sessions are held remotely by secure video call, from wherever you already feel at ease. My work is practical and grounded in evidence-based practice, integrating CBT, ACT, DBT and Solution-Focused approaches in the way that best fits your goals.

02

What to Expect from the First Session

The first session is a chance for us to get to know each other, and for me to start to learn your story; we will talk through what brings you to therapy, your background, and what you hope to get out of the process.

There's no pressure to have it all mapped out. I'm here to help support the process so you feel comfortable.

03

Where We Go From There

We build an approach that fits you, and check in regularly to make sure therapy continues to meet your needs as things change.

What We Might Work Toward

Everyone's goals in therapy are different. Depending on what brings you here, we might work toward:

  • Feeling calmer and less overwhelmed by anxiety or stress
  • Understanding your emotions and patterns with more clarity
  • Developing coping strategies that help you feel better
  • Feeling more confident in your relationships and how you set boundaries
  • Moving through difficult transitions with more resilience
  • Feeling more like yourself (e.g., more grounded, secure, and connected)

You don't need to be in crisis to benefit from therapy. Some people attend when daily functioning is significantly impaired, while others come to better understand themselves, improve their relationships, or simply see what a therapeutic process could look like.

Frequently asked questions

Is Online Psychotherapy Effective for Adults?

Online therapy can be an effective option for adults, and for many people it removes practical barriers: no commute, more flexibility around work and family schedules, and the ability to have sessions from a space where you already feel at ease.

How do I know if I need therapy, or if I should just try to manage things on my own?

There's no single sign that means you “need” therapy. Some people attend therapy when their daily functioning is significantly impaired, while others benefit from therapy when they want to better understand themselves, improve their relationships or their overall well-being, or are simply curious what a therapeutic process could look like. You don't need to be in crisis to benefit from therapy.

What if I'm not sure what I want to work on?

That's a common starting point, and it's okay.

Part of our work together will be to figure that out. I will support you with more guidance, if that's something that can be helpful.

What happens in the free consultation?

We will have about 15 minutes to discuss your main concerns or reason to come to therapy, and what your goals for psychotherapy are. I will also share my approach, so that we end the conversation knowing if we are the right fit to work together and, if so, what the next steps are.
